It’s time to up your skin care game and get ready to bare more flesh with confidence in the better weather – think floaty dresses, shorts and bikinis. Prep your skin for summer now with these tips to be totally prepared for the next time the sunshine makes a very welcome appearance!
Get rid of dead, dry skin
Time to exfoliate and get rid of dead skin and reveal glowing skin underneath. Your exfoliator can be whatever works for you – a gritty body scrub, an exfoliating brush or a microdermabrasion kit – find a solution that works for you and your skin and take an evening to pamper yourself. After you have exfoliated, hydrate your skin using your favourite moisturiser and get ready to step out the following day with summer-ready skin.
Invest in a good SPF
Summer is our favourite season, but it does mean that we need to take extra care with protecting our skin from the sun’s harmful rays. We would always recommend that you wear a moisturiser or foundation with added SPF and invest in a good suncream for any other exposed areas like your arms, the back of your neck and your feet. Sunburn is never a good idea, but if you love the look of tanned skin (and who doesn’t?) fake it with a luxurious tanning lotion from our range which provides natural looking golden shades, evocative of a Mediterranean summer.
Prep your skin from the inside out by making sure your diet is full of skin-loving foods. Foods to eat for glowing skin are full of zinc, antioxidants and Vitamin E, so try adding things like grapefruit, salmon, eggs, leafy green veg and unsalted nuts to your diet. As well as foods to include, there are some to avoid or limit as they can have negative effects on how well your skin looks. Alcohol, caffeine and sugary drinks can make your skin look tired, drawn and dull, and salty foods can lead to puffiness.
We know it’s hard sometimes to get your two litres of water a day intake, but drinking more water will benefit your skin in so many ways, helping you to feel more radiant. It can lead to clearer skin with fewer break outs, it can help to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and it helps to flush toxins out of the body – everything you want for your most radiant summer yet.
Prepping your skin for summer means paying particular attention to those areas which have been covered up for months – your toes! Summer means flip flops and sandals, so give your toes some TLC with a pedicure and get them beach-ready. We love these pedicure ideas – which is your favourite?
