SS21 Fashion Trends That Will Show Off Your Sunless Tan - Lusso Tan

While we impatiently anticipate what the rest of the year has in store for us (beyond shielding our suppers under umbrellas at the front of our favourite restaurants) what we are most excited for is the opportunity to transition out of loungewear and winter coats.

The fashion gods appear to be favouring some skin in the trends ahead of us, which is the perfect opportunity to showcase a flawless tan! And so we’re bringing you this brief of what to look out for, when Mother Nature gets her head in the game and brings us the weather we truly deserve.

Open Backs

A timeless classic and subtly sexy! Open backs will be very prominent in the coming seasons and they’re ideal for those who prefer to keep their legs, decolletage or waist under wraps. Choose floral sundresses for brunch and beach attire and opt for floaty shift dresses  or form fitting pieces for evening glam.

We are perpetually asked for advice on how to tan your own back and unfortunately our answer is: don’t. We have no words of wisdom here. Get someone else to do it instead. Train your partner, your kids or enrol your girl gang for the job.

Bralettes

Bralettes have been with us over the last couple of seasons and they are going nowhere. We’re enjoying the new versatility of layering over dresses or shirts and pairing with pastels or coral shades will really compliment and highlight your tan. Sea blue shades are also a great choice and the lighter the shade the darker your tan will look.

Cut outs & ‘Waist Flossing’

Comparably, cut outs are coming in strong, as is the more daring ‘waist flossing’ aka tie fastenings that wrap around the waist to highlight the stomach area.  We’re thinking high waisted jeans and oversized blazers similar to bralette styling and ‘floss’ skirts paired with button down cardies.

It’s easy to choose complementary colours that highlight the glow but why not consider contrasting to make your tan look sharper. Bright colours will highlight the distinction between your clothes and your freshly tanned skin!

Monochrome

A lack of colour is ironically one of the biggest ‘colour trends’ with black and white pieces everywhere. It’s satisfyingly simple to pull off – through floral (like Chanel), checks, stripes or just block colour – opt for black and white pairing and you can’t go wrong. Keep the look simple with matching mono accessories or amp it up with bold colours.

You’ll have noticed a trend through this brief, in that bright colours bring out your tan while darker colours supply contrast. Of course, there is no brighter colour than white, making it quite possibly the best match to feature your Lusso Tan.

Floor Length Maxis & Wide Leg Trousers

Floor sweeping or sheer style maxi dresses and wide legs are perhaps the most romantic to appear. They are superb transitional pieces from our currently relaxed attire, down to the elastic waists and loose hemlines.

For these potentially conservative options the right shade of nail polish will make your hands and toes pop and choosing the right accessories, specifically golds can do wonders for your tan.
